Woodland School
The first day is always variable since I’m still getting to know the students. A few of the kiddos are higher energy, so I will be factoring that into future lesson plans.
We talked about our favorite animals, and what shapes are used to draw them! We looked at pictures of animals and then we drew our own! We also made paper airplanes and designed them to look like birds, which really engaged the boys!

Class was good for me as a teacher. There was a slight discrepancy in what I had been originally told versus what, actually, you know happened for the class in the sense that like I had originally been told that it was going to be two half hour classes with the group of students split into two different groups. But the school asked, if we could do all of the students together as one group for the full hour, which was totally fine because they had additional teachers to help with supervision, but it did. I mean that I had to make some last-minute changes to the timing of some of the activities and if I had known that ahead of time, I might have planned a few things a bit differently to just to fill the time a little bit better.
Today. Today the kids did three different activities, focusing on Halloween stem experiments. First we made, which has potions with vinegar and baking soda. After that, we created static electricity, ghosts with tissue paper, and balloons. And then for the third activity, we made spider webs out of pipe cleaners. And that was a really good one for the kids because a lot of them are still learning about making circles and shapes and you know, lines and creating patterns and stuff. That was a really great, you know, fine motor skill activity for them as well.
